Lead Interior/Building Designer
From the time he was gifted his first drawing board at nine, Christopher had a passion for sketching homes. Extensive childhood travels, taking in the grand old buildings of Europe and the elaborate decorations of Asia, then opened his mind to the possibilities of architecture and design.
After an early career in fashion and merchandising, Christopher studied interior design, followed by building design. Devoting ten years to a small creative studio - during which time he garnered many awards - he then opened CG Design Studio in 2014.
Christopher’s style is responsive to a client’s wishes and a building’s past. “I am often inspired by a building’s history and will take cues from that, be it an old Queenslander, a mid-century marvel, or 90s brick suburban home.
“I like to get the details right and then overlay the pretty aspects. Practicality is also of prime importance when I’m designing a space. I thoroughly enjoy manipulating and rearranging spaces for optimal functionality.”
Born in Melbourne and raised in Brisbane, Julia is an avid traveller who draws inspiration from a sense of place. She loves to track down the hottest restaurants, bars and cafes in an exotic location. It’s no surprise then that her enduring passion is commercial spaces, with a particular love for hospitality projects.
“I’m appreciative of spaces that have a great atmosphere, and that leave a lasting impression. Those beautiful, well-designed, relaxed spaces that still evoke a sense of liveliness. As an interior designer, I look forward to working on more boutique hotels, bars and restaurants.
“When it comes to residential design I am drawn to light, earthy, bright and open spaces that are well suited to the Queensland climate. I have a strong love of natural materials; from robust stones, and warm timbers to soft natural fibres. I love the effortless textural diversity of these elements.”
